Meet Nugget, a New Hope Cattle Dog Available For Adoption

Nugget

 Meet Nugget

Nugget

Nugget is a very sweet boy who loves people and attention. When he’s excited his nubby tail wags 100 miles a minute! He doesn’t seem to have very high exercise requirements for a heeler and would be just as content to go on hikes or lounge on the couch, as long as he’s next to his person. He knows a few commands and will do anything for cheese! He adores his doggie foster sister and would likely benefit from the company of another friendly dog in his new home. He chases cats so is recommended for a home without them. Nugget, like a lot of heelers, can be mouthy with your hands when he’s excited. He tends to jump up to say hi but we’re working on that. Nugget has some preferences when it comes to be handled, especially when touching his back end/back legs and will lightly nip if he feels uncomfortable. For this reason we recommend him only for homes with kids old enough to understand and respect his boundaries. Nugget also seems to have had some bad experiences with baths in the past. We’re working on slowly getting him more comfortable with water and being handled so he can learn that bathtime is fun and not scary. He goes in his kennel fine (as long as there’s cheese in there!) and will bark at first but settles down after a few minutes. He likes to chew on bones and is just starting to learn what stuffed toys and tennis balls are all about! Overall Nugget is a really good boy who deserves so much more than than the lot he was handed. He’s ready to settle into his forever home with his forever people and will surely make a wonderful companion for his new family.
