Meet Lia, a New Hope Cattle Dog Available For Adoption

 Meet Lia

Lia

Hi I’m Lia! I just arrived in Colorado as a stray from New Mexico. The change in elevation has not affected my energy level. I am a very active dog with limitless energy and a great temperament. So if you are looking for a companion for hiking or other adventures then I might be the dog for you!

I am very playful and I have a lot of puppy energy. I get along great with the other dogs in the house and love running around the yard with them. I can do this for hours. I have a very active mind and will find ways to entertain myself if I get bored. I need regular exercise and chew toys. I also love shoes! I don’t eat them though, I just steal them and put them on my bed, or in the yard. As far as puppies go I am really good, I don’t chew furniture or nip humans.

I give myself a B+ at being potty trained. I can use the dog door to let myself out. I have had a few accidents at night when everyone is asleep. My foster family makes sure I go out right before bed and as soon as I wake up, this seems to help. My new home should be sure to put me on a routine right away. I am not a huge fan of the crate, I will go in it without fighting though. I am also okay being uncrated during the day as long as I have chew toys around.

I love cardio! I go on 3-4 mile jogs a few times per week and I like sprints. I love hiking too. I do like chasing rabbits. I also encountered a neighborhood cat and tried to chase it. I have encountered ducks and alpacas but didn’t react to them. My recall is okay, my new family should make sure to work on that with me for any off leash adventures.

I think my perfect forever home should have a fenced in yard for me to enjoy, or be able to take me on long walks or runs on a regular basis. I would also do really well if I had another active dog to play with. I am still a pup, but I am already as tall as the older dogs in the house. I enjoy pets, belly rubs and I will lay with you on the bed or couch if you invite me up. I am energetic, intelligent, and loyal and I know I will be a great dog for my forever family!
