 Meet Sara

Sara

Hey there, Sara here. I was saved by New Hope from La Junta, CO. I was turned in to the shelter by a woman who found me very emacaited wandering the streets.

I am good with other dogs but try to be alpha, so I would do better with a male dog or submissive female dog in my forever home. I also need an owner who will appopriatley correct me when I try to be alpha with other dogs. It just takes me a few minutes and then all I want to do is play, play, play. I have not been tested with cats yet, so I am not sure how I would do with them.

My potty training is a work in progess. My foster mom thinks I lived most of my life on the street and that's why I am not quite potty trained yet, but I am a fast learner and should learn to only do my business outside soon. I was not a big fan of my kennel when I first came to New Hope but I am learning that being kenneled is not a bad thing. I just bark occassionaly now and then I lay down and go to sleep.

Unfortunalty, I am heartworm postive but don't worry, New Hope is paying for the treatment to cure me of heartworms. My forever family just needs to understand that I won't be able to do many outdoor activities for about 6-9 months as I undergo my treatment. After I am all clear, I'll be able to join them on all their adventures.

I just want a family to call my own, where I spend my days lounging around with them. Hope to meet you soon.
