Meet Lia, a New Hope Cattle Dog Available For Adoption

 Meet Lia

Hi I’m Lia! I just arrived in Colorado as a stray from New Mexico. The change in elevation has not affected my energy level. I was very shy at first, but quickly opened up. I spent the first few hours hiding and watching the other dogs in the house with caution. I decided they weren’t so scary and now I get along great with them. I am very playful and I have a lot of puppy energy. I love rolling around in the yard and finding new things to chew on. I enjoy chewing on bones, stuffed duck toys, and oh yes I love shoes! My foster family is working to teach me that, although tasty, shoes are not appropriate chew toys. My forever family should understand how to manage puppy behavior.

So far, I have not had any accidents in my foster family’s home. I go outside when let out and do my business. My foster home has a dog door but I have not mastered it yet. I should mention I really like being in the backyard and sometimes I am stubborn about coming back inside. I think my forever home should have a yard or access to an outdoor space. I did very well on my first walk! I saw lots of dogs, joggers, kids and cyclists. A few times my ears perked up and I got excited, but I followed my foster dads lead and didn’t pull, run or try to herd anything. I did not meet any cats. I think I might like to try hiking next and I hope my forever family is an active one.
