The Animal Shelter in Gallup, New Mexico has asked New Hope for assistance in finding a forever home for Alvis. Below is Alvis' bio. For additional information, or answers to questions, email Babbette at fourcornerspetalliance@gmail.com __________________________________________ Alvis is a 2-year-old Border Collie/Heeler mix, or what we call a herding dog combo. Well, this boy, whatever his mix, has come a long way. He was trapped at the westside Allsup's store in Gallup in mid-November 2022 and took about three months to come around. And boy, he has "come around!" He's sweet and loving, and also bursting at the seams with energy galore. He loves playing with the dogs at his foster home, and loves belly, ears, and butt scratches. Alvis is great on a leash, too. He's used to being an outdoor dog, so he's currently kenneled, but gets his indoor kickback and backyard play time with resident dogs, plus plenty of walkies. He refuses to deal with any conflict with the resident dogs, and he will retreat to a different part of the yard rather than get into any confrontations, one of his many notable attributes. Some basic training would really help him, as he aims to please. He knows sit and lay down. He picked up these commands rather easily. Areas that need growth, but getting better ... jumping, but not always necessarily on a person. He's making improvements over time, and we just know he'll make an active family happy with his unconditional love and tender heart. Alvis is up to date on shots and neutered. He would not be an idea dog on a farm with small animals, but we could see him doing great with horses and cattle. Adoption donation is $150. He's currently being fostered in Sanders, AZ, so if you live out of the area and want to adopt, we may charge a fuel fee for transport. If interested, you can go to fourcornerspetalliance.org, then to the forms page to download an adoption application.
