 Meet Dana

Dana

Dana is NOT a good fit for life in a apartment or anyplace that a dog must be quiet, she is VERY VOCAL !!

Dana’s story is quite sad. A few months ago it was witnessed that a trucker abandoned Dana a truck stop. Being the loyal dog that she is, she hung around the general area for months howling for her owner. A volunteer was finally able to catch her and Dana was taken to the humane society where she was safely kept until her transport to CO was arranged.

Since arriving into New Hope’s Care she has proven to be one character of a dog. We think Dana suffers from some anxiety as she is a very vocal dog when she is happy or stressed. When she looses sight of her foster mom she  whines very loudly until her person comes back into view. Also when you get home and greet her she acts the exact same way. Although she appears to have slight anxiety when seperated she does calm down after a few minutes. Dana is trustworthy in the house when left alone and does not chew or have accidents when you are gone. She will go collect the shoes and put them in a pile next to where she is laying but never chews them. We think it’s her way of staying close to you when you’re gone.

Dana is great in the house. She is potty trained and will usually go and lay down after exploring for a few minutes. Dana gets along with dogs but could really care lesss about them. She is definitely a dog that enjoys her people more than anything. She is also great with cats; frankly she is kind of scared of them.

Dana will need a loving home where she can soak up all the attention as that’s all she really wants. She also needs an owner that is understanding and will tolerate her loud vocal noises (her foster home is currently working on how to calm and settle her quicker). We think she would be a great farm dog or even a family dog for people with kids.
